Cyprus Railway Museum
Ongoing place Cyprus Railways Museum
Step back into Cyprus’s railway history at the Cyprus Railway Museum, housed in the restored former railway station in the mountain village of Evrychou. The Cyprus Government Railway operated from 1905 to 1951, connecting Famagusta in the east with Morphou in the west via Nicosia and playing an important role in transporting passengers, goods and materials across the island.
Today, this unique museum preserves the story of the island’s former railway network through original photographs, documents, technical drawings, historical objects and detailed models of stations and railway vehicles. Outside, visitors can see reconstructed sections of the platform and track, original rails, a hand-pump inspection trolley and historic freight wagons.
It is a small but fascinating stop for history enthusiasts, railway fans and families exploring the Troodos region, offering a glimpse into a little-known chapter of Cyprus’s past.
